Cataract Surgery

See life clearly again.

Cataracts can gradually make the world appear blurred, dull or hazy. Modern cataract surgery can restore clearer vision by replacing the eye's cloudy natural lens with a new artificial lens selected for your eyes and visual needs.

At Eyesurgcientre, Dr James Chen provides personalised cataract care, from your initial assessment and lens selection through to surgery and post-operative care.

Understanding Cataracts

What is a cataract?

Inside your eye is a clear natural lens that helps focus light so you can see clearly.

As we age, this lens can gradually become cloudy. This clouding is called a cataract.

Cataracts usually develop slowly. As they progress, vision may become increasingly blurred or hazy, colours may appear less vibrant and everyday activities can become more difficult.

Cataracts can be treated effectively with surgery when they begin to interfere with your vision or quality of life.

Considering Treatment

When should I consider cataract surgery?

Having a cataract doesn't necessarily mean you need surgery straight away.

In the early stages, changes to your glasses prescription may provide adequate vision. As the cataract progresses, however, glasses may no longer provide the clarity you need.

Cataract surgery may be considered when changes to your vision begin affecting everyday activities such as reading, driving, working, watching television or enjoying hobbies.
